Professional Appraisal Fees: Fees are charged at an hourly or flat rate depending upon the assignment. This includes the on-site examination, documentation and photography of the art; market research and analysis; narrative writing and production of a full-color printed report and a black-and-white copy. An estimate of fees is given in the initial discussion of the assignment.
Travel Fees: A fee is charged for all travel outside of Maricopa County, Arizona, in addition to transportation costs (airline, ground) and lodging, if required by length of on-site examination.
Expenses: Fees associated with scientific testing, opinions of other experts or authentication, if necessary, are billed at actual cost.
Please note that the appraiser’s compensation relates to the time required to complete the assignment. It is not contingent upon the amount of the valuation, the reporting of a predetermined value or direction in value that favors the cause of the client, the attainment of a stipulated result, or the occurrence of a subsequent event.
Appraisal fees are based on overhead and quality of service. The fees reflect the time, complexity of assignment, skill training and experience demanded by the proper treatment. Although sometimes costly, a professional art appraisal by an independent, certified, accredited member of a national organization, such as the American Society of Appraisers, is always a good value and functions as a legal document.
